Leaving the Community

I always have been a strong advocate for gays standing up for the GLBT Community. I always thought that it was important to be a part of the gay scene and for everybody to stand up for each other. But, now I think differently.

It seems to me that every gay is just a duplicated copy of all the others. They have seriously become such a stereotype that they make gay jokes plausible. I say this for a few reasons because when I see gay guys in relationships I feel like most of them will cheat or they are the "home-wrecker", think that its okay to be a "Mean Girl", and they act like sluts. How can we stand up against this if during Pride we expose our body's in seductive ways. What message is that showing for the community?

The other reason I excuse myself from being a part of the community is because I don't need to be a part of it. I am my own person and just because I like guys it doesn't mean that I need to be defined based on that. I am not just gay, I'm a person seeking adventure and a happy life exploring the world. This doesn't mean that I won't stand up for my gay rights, but as far as I am concerned, the rights such as marriage should only be granted for those who will take it seriously.
